Three distinct pieces of work:

• Map integration on data pages
• Mapping platform
  • Pick metrics and visualise them on a map - users like to explore data in this way
• Interaction maps - including navigation around the app - leave to later

Desk research of:

• data vis and design elements - including UI challenges - find examples
• coding elements - what do we need to think about in coding a good map - integrating mapping tools with svelte
  • prototype some options

Identify a general design approach - scope out design challenges around extra work

• e.g. minimum viable product might be a choropleth for local authority data but would also want to consider other geography levels, change over time etc.

Common reasons for failure - focus for prototyping

Link up with ONS colleagues for guidance where needed
