Description

Tvheadend is the leading TV streaming server and recorder for Linux supporting ATSC, DVB-C/C2, DVB-S/S2, DVB-T/T2, ISDB-T, IPTV, SAT>IP and HDHomeRun input sources. Tvheadend outputs HTTP (VLC, MPlayer), HTSP (Kodi, Movian) and SAT>IP streams, and can ingest multiple Electronic Program Guide (EPG) formats including over-the-air (OTA) broadcast data for DVB and ATSC, and OpenTV extensions like XMLTV and PyXML.

While I would like an LXC as well in my setup I don't really want it, I'm using some TBS DVB-S tuners which require you to build your own kernel module and I just don't feel like having all that on the hypervisor and would rather run a VM, I lose the ability to share/use my igpu but I plan to do all trans-coding somewhere else.

Could you say more about this? Id love a tvheadend lxc container with vaapi/qsv support, i tried compiling tvheadend myself with it, followed the guide from tvheadend site, few other guides, and tried few times with help of ai, couldnt get the hw acceleration to work at all, in the end im using docker lxc > tvheadend from linuxserver, but it only has vaapi support, no qsv, which is a shame, so a nice and easy alternative for transcoding, with easier set up, would be great...
