The Ventura County region is now live on Cal-ITP Benefits!

This morning, we activated five new agencies in Cal-ITP Benefits: Camarillo Area Transit, City of Thousand Oaks Transit Services, Gold Coast Transit District, Simi Valley Transit, and Valley Express. Together with VCTC, launched in October 2025, these operators form a coordinated regional transit discount program for Ventura County. This is the largest multi-operator region on Cal-ITP Benefits to date and follows the launch of the San Luis Obispo region in April.

Regions are innovative for their efficiency. For Ventura County transit operators, the regional approach means adopting a centrally maintained, standardized transit discount program rather than building a bespoke solution in isolation. Each operator retains its own fare policies and unique identity, while offering a common way to pay and the same eligibility requirements for reduced fares.

For riders, it transforms the transit experience: riders eligible for a reduced fare enroll once, either online or in person at any of the six agencies, and automatically receive reduced fares when they pay with their debit or credit card on any operator in the region. Because of open-loop payments, riders paying full fare can also switch operators seamlessly and take advantage of fare capping across the region.

These six independent operators now function as a unified system for people riding transit in Ventura County—a microcosm that reflects Cal-ITP’s vision for the state. We congratulate the Ventura County agencies for their vision and perseverance that made this idea a reality.
