It's a good idea to remove the boilerplate, but the other idea of hating google for their style in each post starts to piss me off, seems it's your main drive to build your projects, but it never was a problem for me, you easily create your theme and nothing looks like material/google theme anymore, it's easy in compose - you have a good theming and styling framework, just ask an AI/LLM to generate a compose theme for you and done. Anyway hate-driven developing has also a place in our world.

If you are not interested in building apps with your own branding, I would recommend you unfollow/unsubscribe from my stuff. There are going to be a lot more coming, and I do not believe you will find them valuable.

I don’t think the issue comes from Google. Google doesn’t develop Compose Multiplatform — they develop Jetpack Compose, which is Android-only. Just like we wouldn’t blame Apple for SwiftUI having a strong Apple identity — that’s expected.

And honestly, I don’t think this is really anyone’s “fault.” We can't criticize Google for creating their own design system for their Android framework, and we shouldn’t blame JetBrains for adapting Jetpack Compose to Compose Multiplatform without providing a unified and neutral theme. It’s simply a natural consequence of how the project evolved — there’s no real culprit here.

The real point is that we're being sold a cross-platform solution with up to 100% shared UI, including support for building web applications. In that context, you expect neutral components that don’t strongly resemble any particular platform — similar to how web UI defaults are minimalistic but universally acceptable.

Imagine an Android app with iOS-style design, animations, and behavior — it would feel weird, right? Yes, you can customize Material to make it look completely different, but why should you have to?

As developers, we often build internal tools or admin panels. The design doesn’t have to be fancy, but we also don't want it to look like an Android app by default. So I think it’s perfectly reasonable to expect a neutral default component set in a truly multiplatform framework.

That’s why I’m happy to see people like alexstyl providing a viable alternative. If I ever use Compose for the web seriously, I’ll likely rely on those libraries — and I’ll probably end up buying his UI pack too.
