High CPU usage

After switching from system Windows Chrome installation to WSL instance of Chrome for Linux, I noticed that YASD has a high CPU usage whenever it's in focus and idle. It's happening also on Windows, but not to such extent. The "GPU process" seems to be the culprit, but it doesn't matter if I turn GPU acceleration on or off (I suppose it's not fully working in WSL). In Windows it's enabled.

Is it something you could fix please? I understand high CPU usage during usage, but shouldn't it be close to 0% when idle?

Just for comparison - actively playing Youtube video uses around 10% CPU in tabs group and 10% in GPU process in WSL.

YASD in WSL -> around 60% of CPU
YASD in Windows -> around 10%

When I close the YASD tab, or switch to a different tab, CPU utilization goes basically to 0%. Keeping YASD in focus and minimizing the Chrome doesn't help.

i suspect this is just an issue with how the chrome task manager is reporting cpu usage. what does the os task manager show for chrome?

I noticed it by increased speed of CPU fan on my laptop. Windows task manager shows constant ~30% CPU usage whenever YASD is in focus in WSL and ~5% when running natively in Windows. Closing YASD tab decreases CPU usage close to 0% in both WSL and Windows.

Can I provide some logs to help you troubleshoot this?

I'm not sure if this helps. On my other laptop with a different graphics card (better HW acceleration support?), when I'm checking the Windows task manager - I can see the CPU utilization is next to none for Chrome, but GPU is at about 5-6% as long as YASD is in focus and just displayed on the screen.

interesting. there shouldnt be any significant computation happening when just idle so im inclined do think its voodoo in chrome but i will take a look

Found the culprit - it's the wallpaper feature (I'm using the default blue one). As soon as I disable it, CPU and GPU go down (edit: not to 0% though, it's still slightly above other idle tabs, but not so bad anymore).

In WSL the GPU usage is more erratic, but it's clearly visible when I turned the wallpaper on/off/on/off:
