For a non-underground structure, there's always a cheap and easy way to explore it: pillar to the top and grab the loots.
For example, the bastion. players can pillar to the top and easily loot the chests, without alerting the piglins living down below.
As for modded structures, especially tower-like structures, this situation becomes even worse.
So here's the solution I came up with:
Make unlooted chests work like beds, so if there's any monsters nearby, players won't be able to interact with them. Then, show something in the action bar and highlight those monsters.
To make it a better feature, it's detection range should be configurable.
Also, I was wondering if it is possible to detect the spawners as well?
