Investigate podman build performance versus vfkit

In this PR in the Podman repo (containers/podman#27059) it appears that the libkrun performance is approximately 3 seconds slower than vfkit for build operations.

I wanted to file this issue as a placemarker for futher investigation to see if there's anything we can do to improve the performance.
