Having issue with storage allocated to podman machine. I had a db instance running inside podman and I thought when size of the free storage will be full it will just shutdown any write activities but under the hood very weird thing happened with storage it was writing until podman just stopped responding. So what is happening now - I cannot run any container because of not enough space .

• I need to figure out how add more storage to existing machine or how I can copy container (which I cannot now see because of an storage issue).
• Please help I do not want to delete container I need to save the data. Any ideas on how I can save the data is appreciated.

Originally I'd gave to the machine - 40 GB of storage. I tried to allocate through UI but it seems like does not work.

Thanks this is exact solution what I was searching for. In the meantime I want to raise another question is it correct that system kills itself because of not enough memory maybe it should be prevented?

by system do you mean kernel? the kernel has out-of-memory algos it follows to keep itself alive and that is not something we can control.

you can also save your container data with podman export and you will get a tarball of its filesystem. It can then be imported again with podman import

It wont work cause container cannot be started (last screenshot podman ps) this is what really concerning me when system dropped itself and I even cannot export it's data

if you can ssh into the vm, you could save the container to a mounted volume I would think?
