Failed to obtain podman configuration: lstat /tmp/.vnc-4159: no such file or directory

I've downloaded v5.5.2 linux amd64 version at https://github.com/containers/podman/releases/download/v5.5.2/podman-remote-static-linux_amd64.tar.gz
After extraction I get a single file. The exe file: bin/podman-remote-static-linux_amd64
When running I get:

$ ./podman-remote-static-linux_amd64 
Failed to obtain podman configuration: lstat /tmp/.vnc-4159: no such file or directory

I tried -h and --help option but same result. Is that normal?

It's on RHEL 8. I don't have root access.

The error occurs after I switch from VNC to LSF farm terminal (our VNC is not allowed to do heavy stuff).
Is there a way to use the X display instead?

Tested:
./podman -e DISPLAY=$DISPLAY -v /tmp/.X11-unix:/tmp/.X11-unix:rw
but it's not better

In the meantime, I tried to run it on the VND machine. I get:

 ./podman info --debug
OS: linux/amd64
provider: qemu
version: 5.5.2

Cannot connect to Podman. Please verify your connection to the Linux system using `podman system connection list`, or try `podman machine init` and `podman machine start` to manage a new Linux VM
Error: unable to connect to Podman socket: Get "http://d/v5.5.2/libpod/_ping": dial unix /tmp/.vnc-4159/run/podman/podman.sock: connect: no such file or directory

ChatGPT said the version is compiled to be used with a VM. Is that right?
Is there a version compiled without a VM?
