Model-Addons Active but Still Getting Credit Balance Errors (and Missing Visual Cues)

I've been using the agent/assistance - https://hub.continue.dev/continue-community/code in the past few days, great great stuff, but I started running into errors when trying to use certain models. For example:

{"type":"invalid_request_error","message":"Your credit balance is too low to access the Anthropic API. Please go to Plans & Billing to upgrade or purchase credits."}

...and

request to https://api.anthropic.com/v1/messages failed, reason: 307328:error:100003fc:SSL routines:OPENSSL_internal:SSLV3_ALERT_BAD_RECORD_MAC:..\..\third_party\boringssl\src\ssl\tls_record.cc:486:SSL alert number 20

This happened even though I have Model-addons active.

After switching to Mercury Coder, I then got:

Secret Not Found

On the Agent/Assistant → Model List page, there used to be clear visual indicators on each model card, such as:

• “input” → meaning the model requires a key
• ✅ checkmark → meaning a key is already present
• “Model Addons” → meaning the model is covered by the addon package

That whole set of indicators seems to be missing now. Without them, it’s very difficult to tell why an agent isn’t working anymore — whether it’s because:

• We no longer have the model addon
• Or we’re missing the right key for an external model

Here’s the confusion:

• Mercury Coder (regular) isn't included in Model-addons hence requires a key.
• But without the visual cues, it’s not obvious which one I’m actually running or why I’m hitting a “credit balance too low” error when I should be covered by the addon.

Request

1. Clarify why a credit balance error shows up even when Model-addons are active (is it falling back to external API usage instead of addon access?).

2. Restore/reintroduce the visual indicators on model cards so we can quickly see:

   • Which models are included in addons
   • Which require external keys
   • Which keys are present

This would make it easier to troubleshoot situations like this and avoid downtime.

@babblebey thanks for the detailed feedback and writeup! We just shipped a fix to bring back the "Inputs" badge (hotfix on the way for the org image not loading).
