Next Edit seems to be slowing down / hanging VS Code

I'm not fully certain, but I'm pretty sure Continue Next Edit is greatly slowing down random features in VS Code. I also notice the syntax highlighting being wonky, with some characters in some tokens colored incorrectly (which I assume is due to the same problem, Continue slowing down VS Code's normal functioning). I'm not for certain, but I've noticed it several times when trying to autoformat large files. Usually, it's pretty fast. But sometimes, VS Code hangs for dozens of seconds, the the "Continue (NE)" is spinning in the bottom right corner. I also notice it being very slow to open Continue panel, such as to initiate an edit. I only noticed this in the last couple of weeks or so, and I'm pretty sure I don't notice this when I turn off the extension. But it's nondeterministic, so it's hard to be certain.
