Make the landing page more welcoming to designers

1. On the menu at the top right, 'For designers' should be first, 'For developers' second.
2. On the main page, the design section should be above the developers' section.
3. 'Design & OpenSource' instead of 'OpenSource & Design's in the header on the main page.
4. Reconsider the word 'your' in 'All through a simple, yet powerful folder in your project.' Are designers likely to already have a project that is 'theirs'? Seems targeted to devs.
5. Use tabs instead for buttons 'For Developers', 'For Designers'. This way, they will have the same hierarchy, equally welcoming to both. Users will only see content that is relevant to them.

This is powerful, but I feel that focusing only on this value proposition leaves out the needs of other user roles and personas, which could backfire a bit.

What if we used a tagline that positions this solution as the meeting point between designers and open-source projects? That way we instantly answer our visitors’ first question – “Am I in the right place?” – and give (any of) them something to connect with. From there, we can naturally expand into the story: “Find projects that need your contribution” and “Find designers who will contribute to your projects.”

Then the two CTAs flow organically from that narrative.

I find those ideas to be in the right direction. The CTAs tell exactly what they are about, and the Projects section on that page height gives visitors quickly the tangible part of our solution, as an attractive preview, without having to scroll much.

Then we can present the rest of our values for designers and for project owners (including the .design folder and the design documentation guidelines).

I suggest having the options order as "Find Projects", "For Designers", "For Project Owners", to align better with the narrative of the landing page, as we are discussing it in this issue.

what do u think about the title being ""Design for real projects. Help make open source more usable" keeping all important words in the same place and allowing everyone to feel like they are in the right place potentially?

To give you all a little bit more context – maybe that helps in shaping your thoughts / solutions / ideas :)

The current challenge we face is not to onboard Designers and communicate the whole idea towards them. The problem is that we need to raise awareness across Engineers / Maintainers who own and run the Open Source projects - to open up, set up their designer guides, get listed on the platform, etc etc

I know it's a little bit of the chicken / egg problem – but we initially decided that it's better to first focus on onboarding enough projects before making this an easy to onboard platform for designers (that will be the next step once we reached that threshold)

I do think however that the "For Designers" page can get a lot more love ;)
