Nested repo structure?

Hi there, I'm trying to use multiple repos as potential templates where the flow is

1. copier copy initially asks which front end and which backend to use, along with various other questions.
2. Based on the frameworks selected it clones those repos via _tasks (each with their own .jinja files to update)
3. All things are updated using the values from the copier questions are propagated to both the files in the core directory as well as the new cloned ones.

I've been trying and failing to use something like copier update --defaults --skip-tasks after the fact, but there's issues with a dirty destination etc.

What's the suggested process for a flow like this?
