fix spurious toggling of extension enabling

Sometimes when the extension is toggled off by clicking the face, it doesn't respond and needs to be clicked again to turn it off (turning the face icon pitch black). Additionally, if the extension is toggled off, it sometimes turns back on unheeded. I don't know if these two issues are related, but they should be fixed.

Completing #12 should reduce the immediacy for this fix.
