Preserving XMP image metadata upon upload?

I've noticed that XMP image metadata is stripped immediately upon upload to Craft.

The EXIF and IPTC metadata remain, but XMP is explicitly lost.

Note that this behavior is occuring with preserveExifData enabled.

I cannot find any existing discussion topics regarding XMP metadata.

The only note I saw was a Google AI recommendation to use the "Image X" plugin from SpaceCatNinja.

But nothing in their documentation explicitly mentions XMP metadata.

Has anyone dealt with this before?

If you enable preserveExifData, then all image profile data will be retained, including XMP data. however Craft doesn’t actually do anything with it, so there’s no built-in way to index/retrieve it.
