What happened?

Description

Please add drag-and-drop ordering for Shipping Methods in
CP → Commerce → Store managment → Shipping Methods, same way as for Payment Gateways.

• Use that order in the CP list and during checkout.

Real Discussion need to be why this was not done in same time when gateways are done without even asking

Hi @wmdhosting, just moved it to discussions but had not yet written the reason yet, you beat me to it.

Right now the shipping methods are shown on the front-end in order of price by default, cheapest to most expensive, which is how most designers want to display them. In order to add a sort order we would need to make it a breaking change to opt-in to use the manual ordering over the built-in ordering logic.

Since it is not a bug, we moved it to discussion to get others input and votes. Thanks.

Quick clarification: when you say “most designers,” do you mean feedback from your internal design/dev team or people from community

As much i see some well known people asked that in 2021

didnt find any other reference ... of "some other designers"...

I post things in Issues. as Discussion where quite neglected for years..
in commerce compared to craftcms. so you cant really have any real discussion here
if somethign does not change..in that direction

Sorting discussions by most votes has been a data point we have used for most new and larger improvements in Craft Commerce over the last few years. For example:

So we encourage everyone to add their voice and votes to existing discussions. The user-base for commerce is not as large as Craft CMS due to the types of projects that need it so we don't see as many votes.

When I said most designers, I meant most developers of Craft Commerce since I have not see this requested often. But you are correct it is not an objective observation.
