Question on CSV feed: Category field types in Element Fields

Description

This gets a bit in the weeds, but I'm attempting to fill two sections of entries with a single CSV feed (format is locked).

So the first section is the primary Element Type/Section.
I have an Entries field for this section that successfully fills another section during feed processing, and I can also give it values for 6 Plain Text fields for the secondary section accessed under "Element fields" when Field Mapping.
However I am also trying to assign a Category field on the secondary section but they do not appear under "Element fields" during Field Mapping, only the 6 Plain Text fields do.

The actual data formatting is a bit dense so I can simplify the structure and steps using a fake example:

• I have a CSV feed of Players, in which I have columns for Game Played, Game Type, and other plain text values
• I have two Channel sections, "Players" and "Games"
• I have a Category, "Game Types"
• I want to set up my feed where the primary Element Type is Entries and points to the Section "Players"
• The "Players" section Entry Type has an Entries field called "Game", set to the "Games" section
• The "Game" section Entry Type has a Categories field called "Game Type", set to the "Game Types" Category, among other Plain Text fields mapped to the columns with plain text values
• On the Field Mapping page of my feed I map the "Game Played" column to the "Game" field of the first section "Players", to populate entries in the "Games" section (I do check "Create entries if they do not exist")
• I expand the "Element fields" lightswitch on this field to map columns to other fields on the "Game" Entry
• All of the Plain Text fields are available and mapped correctly to their plain text columns, however the "Game Type" category field is not available to map to

I guess my question is if there's some complexity here that makes this difficult/impossible, so it's just filtering out those field types from being available to assign?

I have a Category field on the my primary Entries that works great, it's just this one-step-removed Entry where it's unavailable.

I'm sorry I know this is a lot of words, but I think the process is straightforward?
