Get command scripts to work in LIRC

My goal is to use a regular (fedora) desktop to work solely with an IR remote. i.e The mouse is guided by the left/right/up/down button from a remote and the (possible) keyboard input from a popup keyboard and then with the 'mouse' cursors (left/right/up/down and OK). Added are Volume up/down and mute, escape and power on/off. Maybe later with some dedicated buttons to start e.g. youtube or jellyfin.

Got a NodeMCU ESP8266 with an IR receiver, and I managed to program it with the IRrecvDumpV2 example. Gives me good results:

How can I direct this to LIRC? PLs be specific what bytes to send and how to set LIRC up to work with this. I am overwhelmed by all the features of LIRC.

Spent some 4 evenings already to find out how this works.......
