Can RememberSelectionLayers.jsx be extended to deal with sublayers?

So I do comics, and I end up with a lot of deeply-nested layer setups like this:

Sometimes even deeper, if stuff's getting complicated.

Right now this script only works on top-level layers. And, well, "moving all this character's layers to the top level, running this script, doing a Puppet Warp or a perspective Free Transform, ungrouping, running this script, moving all this character's layers back into whatever layer they were inside of" is certainly a lot better than "puppet warp/perspective free transform, ungroup, mutter obscenities under my breath as I manually put everything back where it belongs", but it would be a lot easier if I could skip all that layer moving.

How can I bribe you to make this deal with a nested layer structure? :)

Hi @egypturnash. I understand what the structure of the nested layers looks like. And no matter what the depth, the parent layer remains a "cozy home" where the object wants to return to =) With due diligence, this script can be finalized, but I can't promise yet that I will do it in the near future.

If it’s a giant hassle to make it work then I can just quietly grumble and move my layer structure to the top level, and back again. :)

@egypturnash. I will mention such a case when there are sublayers and objects in the root of the layer. Even if the script returns green objects to Layer 2, it will return all black objects to the top of Layer 1, despite the fact that some of the black objects were originally below Layer 2. An attempt to restore absolutely the entire hierarchy (and layers can be deleted or renamed) would already be a complete snapshot of the document state.
