Question About Version 1.7

Hi! I discovered what appears to be a discrepancy regarding RubyLLM version 1.7.

The Issue

• Upgrade Guide Exists: https://rubyllm.com/upgrading-to-1-7/ contains detailed upgrade instructions for version 1.7
• Version Doesn't Exist: The latest release on GitHub is 1.6.4 (published August 20, 2025)
• Gem Repository: RubyGems also shows 1.6.4 as the latest version

Upgrade Guide Contents

The guide includes comprehensive information about:

• DB-backed Model Registry
• Provider routing capabilities
• Model associations and queries
• Migration commands (rails generate ruby_llm:migrate_model_fields)
• Configuration changes for model_registry_class

Questions

1. Is version 1.7 planned? If so, what's the expected timeline?
2. Is the upgrade guide aspirational/future content?
3. Should users prepare for these changes? The guide suggests backwards compatibility

Context

I was investigating upgrading our production application (which uses extensive RubyLLM customizations including token tracking patches) and wanted to understand if we should prepare for version 1.7.

Our Current Setup

• RubyLLM 1.6.4 (latest available)
• 59 files using RubyLLM across the codebase
• 29 custom tool classes
• Heavy monkeypatching for token usage tracking

I often do this. When I develop a feature I also add documentation and add labels or comments stating that it's going to be available in the next version.
