Remote Home Assistant and Tailscale

Hi everyone, i have followed a youtube video guide getting 2 instances set up together, if they are connected locally theres no issue but once the remote node leaves i cant connect to the home node. I have tailscale set up and all devices are in it and i can manually connect using the ip's tailscale gives me.

First HA is a VM on proxmox.
Second remote is a RPi 5connecting to a 4g router. (Tailscale integration is running on both Home assistants)

I am unable to establish a connection from the primary node to the remote node over Tailscale. Local connection works, but via Tailscale it fails with the error below. Notably, accessing each node individually via Tailscale works without issues.

I just tried to install and am having the same issue. Both instances are on the same Tailnet.

I've also tried it using the NabuCasa remote access link.

Same result.

Has anyone managed to get this to work remotely (outside of the local network)?

When I try to restart after adding

http: use_x_forwarded_for: true

to remote configuration.yaml, I get:

Failed to restart Home Assistant The system cannot restart because the configuration is not valid: Invalid config for 'http' at configuration.yaml, line 58: some but not all values in the same group of inclusion 'proxy' 'http-><proxy>', got None

Yes, updated post above, should be the same proxies.

I'm getting a "Failed to connect to server" message.

I can connect to the remote instance of Home Assistant from my browser.

I don't see anything in either machine's logs. Where else can I look?

EDIT:

I am seeing this in the both the main and remote Tailscale logs:

Well, I just set this up with a test Home Assistant instance on the same, local network. It works and has exceeded my expectiations. What an excellent job!

I just need to get it working over tailscale now.

I disabled the serve option in the Tailscale config, and the Tailscale errors have gone. This is where the problem lies but current my skills stop there.

Any suggestions? Do you need any more info?

I can try to check what's going on with your nodes and maybe help with the setup, if you invite me to your Tailscale network and create a user acc for me on each HA node.
