I'm not sure if anybody here is aware but there's another possible alternative to Skia and Cairo: Blend2D .. I'm not sure if it will fit your needs but it definitely deserves a look :-)

Yes, I've been watching blend2d development for quite some time now. Very cool!

Would you like to contribute a port? That would be good target for the Artist library.

I'm not in a position to do that now as I've just stumbled upon Elements a few days ago. But I'll check out Artist.

My main concern would be your feelings about backends that you don't want to support. All work put into a port for an Artist backend could be dropped if it doesn't measure up.

Makes perfect sense. Artist is designed to allow different backends. I'm just hoping the API is not too alien as to be unusable. I tried Direct2D once and gave up. The impedance mismatch is too much.
