For open-source projects like this one, external contributors need to fork the main repo before being able to submit pull requests.

Only members of the Cypress.io organization work directly in the main repo and create branches there. You would need to fork the repo and create a fix branch in your own copy of the repo. There is a short description of this in https://github.com/cypress-io/cypress-documentation/blob/main/CONTRIBUTING.md#writing-documentation. If you get stuck, then please ask again!
