Adding UI Element

I am interested in doing a fork of cypress to allow testers to enter notes for what they tried on their end to fix a failed test. This would be during the run command. Basically if a test fails, a dialog should open telling them what they should try to fix it, then they can enter their notes of their attempt in the same dialog and this would save it to the report. The purpose is to allow for users to track bugs in their configuration as they are installing a system, and send us a detailed report of what they tried and what didn't work. How should I approach this?
