Heat vs Cool state?

In HA, is there a way to have a state available for if the unit is blowing cold or hot air? I want to install a new damper to my network closet and only open when cold air is blowing. I know how to make HA control the damper….. I just need the state from the Carrier unit.

Do you have AC or heat pump? Either way the sensor.*odu_status should tell you when the unit is making cold air

I have a heat pump. I will look at that sensor to see what it looks like.

I guess in all reality, I just need to close the vent on heat. If I am just blowing air, I want the vent open as well.

I looked at that state and it only say what stage is running, not if it is in heat or cool mode.

How do you tell if it is heating or not?

You can tell if it's heating or not by looking at the "hvac_action" attribute.

Got it to work. Thanks! I will set my after market damper to open when action is not equal to heating.

Am I able to adjust the set temperatures or cause the fan to run through this HACS integration?
