Release Commentary

  • This is a new release

  • Package size (5.6MB) is justified as it contains the complete AviList Global Avian Checklist dataset - the first unified global bird taxonomy with 33,685 records representing all known bird species and subspecies. This is a foundational scientific dataset for ornithological research.

  • AviList, BirdLife, Clements and IOC are not word misspelling.

    • AviList is the Harmonization Effort Group that produced the source data
    • BirdLife is a comprehensive taxonomic checklist of the world's birds, known for its consistency, illustrations, and distribution maps
    • IOC (an acronym) is the International Ornithological Committee World Bird List is an open access resource of the international community of ornithologists
    • Clements is the official list used by the American Birding Association for birds globally
