Here is how you would do it as a "well known plugin":

My VPS that hosts my SearXNG instance is not really equipped to handle many users so I can not share it with everyone.
Keep in mind that the SearXNG server needs to be able to answer in json ("format=json" needs to work as a parameter).

This yaml-file can also be hosted on another server - it does not need to be the SearXNG server. It would of course also be an option to create a pull request for SearXNG for them to officially have an endpoint capable of answering such a request.
