"Use Microphone" Button Fails to Start STT in Firefox

What happened?

The "use microphone" button, which is supposed to initiate Speech-to-Text (STT), is not functioning in Firefox. This issue has recently emerged, although the exact version and timing of the regression are unknown. The button works as expected in Safari.

Issue arises on:

• Firefox 136.0.3 (64-Bit) on an M1 MacBook running macOS 15.3.2 (24D81)
• Firefox 136.0.2 on a Pixel 7 mobile phone running Android 15

Issue does not arise on:

• Safari Version 18.3.1 (20620.2.4.11.6) on an M1 MacBook running macOS 15.3.2 (24D81)

Steps to Reproduce

1. Open the application in Firefox.
2. Click the "use microphone" button.
3. Observe the error message: "Browser does not support SpeechRecognition."

What browsers are you seeing the problem on?

Browser console only prints this:

I can't support something a browser doesn't support. You can switch the STT engine to external in the settings, and setup OpenAI Whisper
