Gemini 2.5 Pro on OpenRouter Fails Instantly on Default Settings

What happened?

No matter the configuration, gemini 2.5 pro fails through openrouter. Likely due to formatting since it fails instantly. It's not down or limited use on openrouter since they have a chat interface on their site as well that functions normally.

Steps to Reproduce

1. Select OpenRouter as provider
2. Select "google/gemini-2.5-pro-exp-03-25:free" as model
3. Leave the parameters as default
4. Send pure text message
5. Receive the following error response immediately with any delay: "Something went wrong. Here's the specific error message we encountered: An error occurred while processing your request. Please contact the Admin."

On latest, there is no issue.

One thing with OpenRouter free models, you need to have specific data/privacy settings enabled in the OpenRouter dashboard to use them, that could be the error, but can't confirm since you didn't provide the server logs.
