Any plans to add a "Deep Research" feature like in ChatGPT? #7854

Maybe, it's just a matter of taking existing tools and have a structured workflow for the Agent, vs. the freeform/conversational flow we use by default. You can already achieve "deep research" simply using the Web Search tool which is largely inspired by this paper: https://arxiv.org/pdf/2503.20201 A more "ChatGPT-like" experience for Deep Research becomes a matter of taking those existing components for Web Search but structuring the agent response/flow differently and adjusting the UI/UX to match that long-form workflow. Try "web search" first since if we do work on this, it would utilize some of the same components (search/browsing/scraping sites, performing re-ranked semantic search, etc.). |

For what it is worth. We have integrated the GPT-Researcher MCP Server as actions for a LibreChat agent. It does okay, but overall not the best experience in comparison to ChatGPT or Gemini. |

Noticed that Deep Research is on the roadmap in the Planned section, any idea as to when? https://www.librechat.ai/blog/2025-02-20_2025_roadmap#planned-items. Thank you. |

First of all, I want to express my gratitude for the excellent work you are doing with LibreChat. The dedication and rapid pace of development are truly impressive, and you are building something of great value for the open source community—thank you! Regarding features, I believe having a "Deep Research" capability, similar to what ChatGPT offers, would be absolutely wonderful. The current "Web Search" feature is good, but it's not quite the same: Deep Research in ChatGPT is much more than a web search—it synthesizes, analyzes, and structures information across multiple sources, providing in-depth, nuanced, context-aware insight. At the moment, this is the only reason I still use ChatGPT in some cases instead of LibreChat. Integrating a true Deep Research feature would make me (and probably many others) switch to LibreChat for 100% of our needs. Are there any concrete plans or timelines for implementing a Deep Research mode or similar advanced research workflow, beyond the current Web Search? This would be a game-changer for researchers and power users. Thanks again for your hard work and for considering this suggestion! |

First of all, the current search functionality in LC works really well and helps a lot with finding information quickly. However, I was wondering if there are any plans to implement a "Deep Research" feature like the one available in ChatGPT, which can analyze, synthesize, and provide detailed insights beyond simple search results.
More details
"Deep Research" would allow users to go beyond basic keyword matching and get comprehensive, context-aware responses that pull together information from multiple sources. This would be useful for users who want a richer, more nuanced understanding of complex topics without leaving LC.
Having such a tool integrated would greatly enhance the user experience and make LC even more valuable for in-depth knowledge work.
Thanks for considering this idea!
