Sometimes the application freeze while saving photos

This may happes when taking too many photos in continuous mode or when the smartphone CPU is under heavy load (by another application).

This may be cause by saving the photos on the flash in another thread or "available memory" not being correctly detected.

As a possible solution I will switch back to save photos as soon they are received from the sensor.

To be tested in a CPU stress condition.

Actually the trade off is a much slower time between 2 photos.
For my usage it was better before so I rollback changes.

Try to use suggestions from https://developer.android.com/topic/performance/memory to detect low memory situations.
In case on low memory stop buffering.
