improve unit support

Upstream ASPECT/deal.ii changes (now merged) will have a units attribute in the vtu tags:

• Allow passing physical units into a VTU file. dealii/dealii#12556
• Including units within pvtu metadata output  geodynamics/aspect#4128

Should adjust the field info here to check for the new tag and use it if it's there.
