Look into building custom geographies by dissolving ones that straddle two provinces at CMA level given 3 possibilities for a StatCan product return for these cases...e.g. Hawksberry,ON. Or Hawksberry,QC OR both combined. DGUID pattern does not look like they are on the same geographic level yet they are....there are x4 cities like this in Canada.

I just finished processing the CMA data for the 2021 Census of Population. Statistics Canada only released it for the combined in your example, so if someone wants to properly visualize the data, they would merge the geometries based on cma_dguid.

I'm going to be merging the geometries on the cma_dguid and visualizing the 2021 Census of Population.

If you're interested in seeing the vector tiles, go to https://www.diegoripley.ca/files/census_of_population_2021_vector_tiles_august_12_2025/ and click on a geographic level. You'll need to select a "characteristic" (see [1] for cheat sheet), then click on "Recalculate Classes (CKMeans)"
