How to import settings (signals, dashboards, alerts) from one seq server to another seq server

Hello,

We buy a licence for a seq server that we installed internally, this server receive events from local and production servers.
We were missing some events from production due to our IPSec connection then we bought another licence to install a second seq server on production so :

• internal applications => local seq server
• production applications => prod seq server

We set a lot of things on the first seq server and we would like to copy all signals, all dashboards and all alerts to the second seq server.

How can we achve this ?

The seqcli offers some import commands for several features.

Unfortunately, there seem to be no import for dashboards, which I've been missing myself. I found a workaround using the UI, tedious though:

1. Go to source Seq instance
2. Dashboards > ... > Edit as JSON > copy
3. Go to target Seq instance
4. Dashboards > ... > Edit as JSON > paste

You can use backup and restore to copy configuration from one server to another.

@mloskot seqcli template export and import works with dashboards.

Thanks @liammclennan, can I choose what I want to restore in the backup file ?

I don't want to restore all settings (keys, accounts, ...), only dashboards, signals and alerts.

@DomZZ no. In that case seqcli template export and seqcli template import might be best.

Thanks, finally we decide to use backup / restore feature and redo entraid conf and a few other things, it is way more fast/easier to do this than using seqcli template export/import.
