Duplicated entries in the file open dialog?

While using DHV I noticed this:

Notice now messages appears twice? Also in another directory:

notice how sync.py appears twice?

If I navigate around the filesystem, moving up a directory and back down for example, the duplication goes away -- it only seems to appear when I first load up the dialog.

I don't know if this is something peculiar to DHV, or if it's a bug in here. I'm going to assume it's something happening in here and work from there.

The first step is to see if I can recreate this in an MRE for this library and this library alone, and then track down the cause.
