Is it possible to change this so that instead of an email I can register using a nickname?

Email is used to reset the password in the future, so there is no play to replace it with the username.

BTW, in the latest release, you are able to disable authentication entirely with the TRUSTED_LOCAL_EMAIL environment variable

Using the latest docker image and update the env variable: TRUSTED_LOCAL_EMAIL=<your email address>
