Sent in a PR - instead of eliminating numbering (since a lot of people would like to see character counts especially for large text-blocks) I just made it smaller so you don't see just numbers when you have a large amount of text. You still have to zoom in to see the letters, but that might be a whole different issue altogether.

I know this conversation is dead, but i'd like to see a tickbox to enable and disable numbering. I want to ask people a question without having to speak (i'm weird, sorry), but the numbering seems to take priority over letters.
