Eclipse bash editor is a eclipse plugin which enables users to edit bash files (.sh) in eclipse IDE.

It can be directly installed by eclipse market place client or from website https://marketplace.eclipse.org/content/bash-editor. It has no special dependencies and works on Linux, Windows and Mac out of the box.

Drag to your running Eclipse* workspace. *Requires Eclipse Marketplace Client

It has following features:

  • Syntax highlighting
  • Outline
  • Validation
  • Colors can be customized. Also additional defaults for dark theme exists.
  • Bracket switching + highlighting
  • Block commenting (CTRL+7)
  • Auto bracket closing for []
  • Small
  • Works on Linux, Windows and Mac out of the box.
  • Has a small integrated eclipse help (online preview on master branch )
  • It has a very small foot print

FAQ

How to apply default dark theme colours?

Please go to Window->Preferences->Bash Editor->Syntax coloring and klick on Button "Restore Defaults for Dark Theme" and then "OK" or "Apply".

Do I need cygwin etc. on windows?

No. The editor has not such dependencies.
