checking on PR statuses
move to EngineClient? do a POC first? we could do an incremental change with smaller PRs and keep both for some amount of time, or just do a large swap.
@roeap: maybe just do the large swap (we aren't coming from large incumbent)

@roeap has large PR open on delta rs which rips out state handling and replaces with arrow stuff

higher level operations already implemented via datafusion in delta-rs
API split: normal/advanced (read/write etc. vs. lower level details)
