Notifications Not Working Properly on Android 2.35.0

• Android version: 16
• Device: Pixel 4a, Pixel Fold 1st gen, Pixel 8
• Delta Chat version: 2.35.0 on all
• Expected behavior: Notifications come immediately
• Actual behavior: Almost No notifications. DC updates only when opened
• Steps to reproduce the problem: See Behaviour

Notifications are coming through occasionally but most of the time they do not come at all. When I open DC, it shows a yellow dot, then it connects, then it says Updating and then all messages come in.

All notifications including force background connection is turned on. We've been using DC daily for 7 yrs and this is new behaviour.

Let me know what might be needed to figure it out. Is this a Pixel thing? Is it possible that it's my email server?

Update. I moved a profile onto a non-Pixel phone and it is not getting notifications either. So it's not a Pixel only issue.

thanks for reporting, it seems you even have the permanent notification so the app is always running in foreground, that is why it says no background data used

it is really weird that with the app running, thanks to the permanent notification, you still don't get notifications, so it seems the app is getting stuck somehow :(

Can you show the "App battery usage" setting, and also your Notification setting for DC?
