One host, multiple stages

Does Deployer support a deploy.php with one host, but two stages? For example:

host('myserver')
    ->stage('production')
    ->user('deploy')
    ->set('deploy_path', '~/domains/example.org');

host('myserver')
    ->stage('staging')
    ->user('deploy')
    ->set('deploy_path', '~/domains/staging.example.org');

When running dep deploy production, it returns Hostname or stage 'production' was not found.
