Upgrade to Laravel 9 - err mesg: ttyname failed: Inappropriate ioctl for device

Doing an upgrade of staging with latest package. Now told I am using an inappropriate IOCTL, that composer should be composer 2.

What is the best way to get over these hurdles?

Saw I had

forge ALL = NOPASSWD: /etc/init.d/nginx
forge ALL = NOPASSWD: /etc/init.d/php8.0-fpm restart
forge ALL = NOPASSWD: /bin/systemctl reload php8.0-fpm

Had to make it PHP 8.1, purge old PHP 8.0 and also needed sudo composer self-update --2
