Description
Copybuffer is awesome for boosting productivity, but handling sensitive information in the clipboard can accidentally become a privacy risk.
I’d love to see a feature where Copybuffer intelligently detects if you’ve copied anything sensitive (like passwords, email addresses, phone numbers, or payment info) and warns you before using or sharing it further.
The idea:
- As soon as something goes into the clipboard, Copybuffer checks if it looks like private info using smart rules and AI.
- If it catches something risky, like a password or a credit card number, it pops up a warning .
- Let users decide what should be flagged (emails, numbers, etc.) and tweak settings to completely fit their workflow.
- All scanning is local by default, so privacy is always protected unless someone chooses to use cloud based analysis.
- Bonus: Optionally mask, ignore or get more info about what triggered the alert.
Why this matters:
- Helps users avoid accidentally sharing sensitive information in chats, documents, code, etc.
- Adds trust and security appeal with zero extra effort from users.
- Sets Copybuffer apart for security-conscious folks and professionals!
Would be happy to discuss implementation approaches
