German umlauts / wrong encoding?

Hello,
I'm trying to monitor a local newspaper website for changes. Everything works fine, except that German umlauts are not encoded correctly.

Example URL: https://www.badische-zeitung.de/freiburg
My filter: xpath://section[contains(@class, 'row tic-bz')]/div/div/div/ul/li[position()>1]

I have never had this problem before. Who is to blame?
Is the website doing something weird or should I open a changedetection issue? Any workaround I could use?
