My title is a little flippant but I'm really struggling with a problem. The xbrl data for Income Statements has improved considerably since the new dimensions logic was added in recent versions. So thanks!
But I'm still having a devil of a time determining the end of the actual Income Statement and therefore the final Net Income. Here's an example of xbrl data for ALLE for 2015 - this is not at all unusual for other companies.
You will note that the actual end of the Income Statement is at line 16 and the true Net Income is 153.9. We can NOT assume that this will always be tagged as NetIncomeLoss! For another company it might be ProfitLoss or ProfitLoss or any number of synonyms. It would be wonderful if the Income Statement data just stopped at the same place as the face statement in the html/printed 10-K. But edgartools seems to be attaching the Comprehensive Statement of Operations or something to the Income Statement. Any ideas?
