Insitutional holdings by stock ticker symbol

I came across edgartools just the other day and would like to know if they can return sufficient information to prepare a report similar to what is available from nasdaq from its Institutional Holdings page (e.g https://www.nasdaq.com/market-activity/stocks/xflt/institutional-holdings). If so what flow would get me there? Right now I don’t see a path from the stock ticker (xflt) back to an institutional holder.

That's a great question.

Yes you could with the library but you would need to write a script that takes around 30 minutes to run. It would

1. Get all 13F-HR filings for a quarter ~9000
2. Convert each to a data object
3. Collect the holdings
4. Group by security and institution

Is that something you'd want to do instead of using the Nasdaq data?

Thanks for the explanation. The time/effort involved is definitely not worth it compared to taking the info from the Nasdaq page. This only crops up very seldomly so Nasdaq is the way to go.
