Add a COPY button to types of buttons

Hi discord devs & folks!

If their was a way to add a copy button ⏺️ to types of buttons, it would be cool 🎉!
If the copy button was clicked, then discord should copy a specific text 📑 provided by the dev 👨‍💻 of the bot.
But yeah, this would require discord some permissions to get the text copied.

I came to this feature, as I was gonna add userid, chanid, roleid, serverid commands to my bot. And I thought of a button, so that the user could just click on the button to get the user ID/channel ID/role ID/server ID in their clipboard.

Of course that would be great but there could be problems with security because you could copy anything.
However, if you ask beforehand whether you want to copy it (and the text is displayed there) as with hyperlinks, that would be a very good function.

What are the security issues with copying plain text to clipboard?

You could have all kinds of things copied that people might not want to do

That isn't a security issue. We display a label for that button and indicate "What type of text you are gonna copy?"

The problem comes from the fact that, while claiming to be copying one thing, you could end up copying something completely different. That could be bad.

Something on the top of my head is a hypothetical bot outputting shell scripts. It could claim to copy that super helpful script everyone needs, but it sneakily adds in an rm -rf /* when using the copy-button (or whatever the windows-equivalent would be). People just copy-pasting that into their shell would be… very surprised.

Pasting random things you copied somewhere into the terminal isn't too smart anyway. But somehow displaying the text that will be copied would be enough to stop that.

Most people don't even read popups, I don't think displaying what is being copied can be a good way to prevent malicious activities. Imo this feature is not needed.

I think it is unlikely this will ever happen. You can just put the id or whatever in the message content/embed and let the user copy it themselves.

Yeah but somehow on mobile it copies the complete embed, if bots are displaying that in the embed. Maybe it would be possible to have a markdown for texts that can be copied?

on iOS it doesn't even allow you to copy embed contents tho
