Show temperature as dummy thermostat

Would be really nice to be able to show temperature sensors as a fake thermostat so that the temperature value can be displayed as a tile on the main screen of Homekit. Use case for me is hot tub temperature that id like to see at a glance and not have it mixed in with the other home temperature sensors.

Bonus points would be allowing it to show in faranheit while the rest of my sensors are in celsius (we're Canadian and hot tubs generally are measure in faranheit whereas everything else is celsius). However, im not sure thats even possible in Homekit

It's a nice idea. I'll think about it and see how easy it would be. I'm not sure how HomeKit will handle it... there is an expectation that user can select heat/cool/temperature which would be misleading. I don't know if simply not providing the necessary callbacks will cause those not to display.

But I do agree that it would be nice to have temperature as a tile. It's a pity that Apple doesn't just allow this.

As for Fahrenheit / Celcius. Nothing I can do about that. The API is all Celsius. How it shows up on the Apple Home app, or any other app, cannot be controlled by the device (or in this case by Homebridge plugin).

Unrelated post, but this thread seems to suggest it is possible to have a thermostat accessory type without mode selection

Also the thermostat control allows showing temp and humidity in the same control (pic attached)

Obviously you may not want to make this the default accessory type for these sensors, but having the option for those who accept the shortcomings might be beneficial. Having my 104*F hot tub temp sensor grouped in with the rest of the house temperature sensors makes it useless (HomeKit/Apple's fault, of course). Things were way better back when sensors used to be displayed as tiles.
