Filtering out images support available?

I wanted to know can we filter out small images where chances are they will be logos or icons probably? If yes, then will -

1. Markdown also ignore corresponding image placeholder, and
2. Doctags also ignore corresponding <figure> tag

Or is the case like, only downloading will be ignored but doctags/markdown will still hold the presence of such images?
