Setting up HJKL in dired

What is your question?

I have looked at numerous videos and would like to set up HJKL in DIRED so that H takes me back to the parent directory and L enters the directory under the cursor.

According to:-

I should be able do this by inserting a few lines of code namely

What am I doing wrong?

If you're evil user, JK mappings comes from evil-collection.
Enable dired module and you'll get HL bindings for free:

ps: see your snippet, you're using centaur, which is not exactly what you asked for ;)
